Bristol is the largest city in the South West and one of the

11 'Core Cities' in the United Kingdom. 

The population of Bristol was estimated to be 472,400 on Census Day, 21 March 2021. This increased by just over 44,000 (10.3%) compared with Census Day 2011, when there were 428,234 people living in Bristol.


In comparison the population of England and Wales saw an increase of 6.3%, making Bristol the fastest growing of all the Core Cities* in England and Wales over the last 10 years.

Bristol is often championed as one of the best places to live the UK. The city is known as being vibrant, culturally inclusive and sustainable.


In fact it is the first city in the UK to be named European Green Capital.


Bristol's modern economy is built on the creative media, technology, electronics and aerospace industries. The city is a decent size to have all the buzz, hussle and bussle of a major city, without being a vast urban expanse. As a result Bristol is considered to be a walkable city.


Among Bristol's many tourist attractions including the SS Great Britain, Bristol Museum, and iconic landmarks such as Cabot Tower and The Clifton Suspension Bridge. There are numerous art galleries and pleasant park and green spaces to enjoy.

New Railway Station Opens In Bristol

Ashley Down station

Ashley Down is a new station that opened on September 28th 2024. The station is located between Filton Abbey Wood and Stapleton Road. It is situated between  Muller Road and Ashley Down Road.


The station is served in each direction by hourly services between Bristol Temple Meads and Filton Abbey Wood from Monday to Saturday, with more limited services on a Sunday.
